This is a classic example of cross-directed motion using a multi-reactor configuration on a uniform projection surface. Simultaneously, there are currents flowing in two separate directions, creating cross-hatched patterns in both positive and negative space. It’s possible to imagine that the two patterns are interweaving, rather than just passing each other in the night.
