local continuity

the property of being continuously connected and coordinated in some way, within a certain range that must be defined for the term to gain relevance. The continuity may span multiple dimensions, and apply to surfaces, spaces or vector objects over a range of time. Any statement about the locality of a continuous region must be range-qualified in all of its dimensions; for example, to say that a sheet of paper exhibits local continuity is not sufficient without adding “to its four edges.”
